“Debbie Hoffman is such a warm, caring person and the most knowledgeable lawyer in collaborative law. I absolutely recommend her. I met her in 2019. I must say I was afraid to approach a lawyer for my personal situation, it was the first time in my life, but I was not disappointed! Debbie showed so much compassion and she is a wonderful listener. I cannot imagine having done this with another lawyer, the quality of her service exceeded my expectations. She gives the best advice and you can tell she is genuinely interested in her clients' personal history and well-being. Thank you so much for your time and assistance, Debbie, I am forever grateful!” C. Dubeau, Collaborative Family Law Client

Families Change

As your family changes, it’s important to find someone to support and coach you through the transition in a confident and informed way.

If you are married or common law and you are separating or divorcing, Debbie will provide you with legal advice, insight and support to help you adapt to the new family structure in a way that meets your needs and the unique needs of your family.

If you are preparing to move in with your partner, if you and your partner plan to get married, or if you are already married Debbie will prepare a cohabitation, pre-nuptial or marriage contract that outlines what will happen if you separate or if one of you passes away.

The Support You Need When You Divorce

As a founding partner of HD Collaborative Law, Debbie decided to dedicate her practice to consensual dispute resolution which is a peaceful alternative to court. After litigating for more than 20 years, Debbie wanted to find a way to help couples maintain a more positive post-separation co-parenting relationship and learn to communicate more effectively.

If you find yourself in a high conflict separation, Debbie also has the training, knowledge and expertise to help you through what may prove to be a challenging post-separation negotiation.

Debbie Hoffman is one of the founding lawyers of HD Collaborative Law, a Waterloo-based law firm dedicated to collaborative practice and mediation. Her experience as a traditional family law lawyer led Debbie to seek a better, more peaceful way to help her clients through their separation, without going to court.
